St. Matthias’ Anglican Church will be hosting a concert on February 19th at 7:30 pm at St. Matthias’ to support its Refugee Fund: this fund seeks to assist Nadia and Antoune, a Syrian family to reach safety in Canada with the help of both St. Matthias’ in Westmount and St. Andrew and St. Mark in Dorval.

Home: Concert about Belonging and Journey

“Home”, is a musical meditation on home, belonging and the journey between, told through the personal lens of singer and St. Matthias’ chorister Sarah Albu. The intimate and eclectic solo concert, mixing contemporary classical repertoire with traditional and folk music from Kazakhstan and Estonia, will also showcase special guests Ina vocal ensemble. The six-voice ensemble started in 2013 by Sarah Albu; all the members met under the tutelage of Maestro Iwan Edwards in the award-winning chamber choir Concerto Della Donna.

Program: Traditional songs from Kazakhstan, Estonia, works by Henri Pousseur, Giacinto Scelsi and premiere of work by Isaiah Ceccarelli, among others.
