Chelsea Barton to perform at Saint-Jean-Baptiste

St. Matthias’ titular organist, Chelsea Barton, will be giving a recital at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church on Monday, April 27, at 7pm. Come encourage our talented organist! Chelsea will be playing the Preludium und Fuge über B-A-C-H by Franz Liszt and Reger’s Zweite Sonate.  Entrance is free. Biography Chelsea Barton, a native of Pennsylvania, U.S.A., is in the midst of Master’s studies with Hans-Ola Ericsson and Hank Knox at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music (Montréal, Quebec).  Chelsea holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Performer’s Certificate in organ from the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, New York), where she studied organ, harpsichord, and improvisation with William Porter.  In the year following her graduation from Eastman, Chelsea studied organ with Michel Bouvard at the Conservatoire Rayonnement Regionale de Toulouse in southern France.  In August 2012, Chelsea was awarded second place in the Arp Schnitger International Organ Competition held in Bremen, Germany.  Chelsea has performed at such venues as St. George’s Church in Weener, Germany, Notre Dame du Taur in Toulouse, and Slee Hall in Buffalo, New York.
